DRC-1s FAQs Q, Has the 1s got a built in loudspeaker and microphone ? A, Yes an internal loudspeaker is provided and connected via a 3.5mm jack socket on the rear panel. Connecting your own loudspeaker to the rear panel LS socket, disconnects the internal loudspeaker. The front panel has a goose-neck microphone. Q. Will the 1s control a Motorola base station ? A. Yes, the 1s has embedded software which is dip-switch selectable and will permit the selection of Motorola or Simoco tone control, plus DC control if the base station is located in the same building and not equipped for remote control. Q, Can we use our existing GPS system with the 1s ? A, yes, the 1s data port is designed to provide access to, and control of the radio channel by an external modem. The interface is TX and RX audio (-10dBm) plus PTT and busy output. The configuration also permits the setting of priority to either speech priority or data priority. Q, What power supply is needed by the 1s ? A. The 1s is supplied with a switch mode power supply unit with a wide range input voltage (90v to 235v AC). The output voltage is 12 volts DC at 1 amp. Q, Can I use an external microphone with the 1s ? A, Yes, the 1s has a socket for an external microphone including PTT, and also a PTT socket for use with a footswitch. Q, Will the 1s hear data transmissions? A. The 1s is equipped for automatic detection of standard 1200 baud FSK data bursts, and will mute the loudspeaker after the first 50mS. Q. How are the various signalling options programmed? A. The options offered by the DRC-1s are set by dip switches mounted on the main printed circuit board. |
