The DRCU is a reduced capacity version of the DRC-1 desktop unit. When clients upgrade from a simple desktop unit to a multi-channel / multi-operator system, following our philosophy to reuse exiting components where ever possible, we would normally use the existing DRC-1 desk top to provide the operator interface into the switch. The full desktop will then revert to stand alone mode should communication between the desktop and the switch be lost.
In order to satisfy those clients who install a switch as a first step and do not wish a full desktop unit, the DRC-U is used to provide the electronic interface and audio routing system for each operator.
The reduced version of the DRC-1 (DRCU) is a lower cost method of achieving this interface.
