| DS32 FAQs
Q, What is the minimum configuration of a DS32 ?
A, Two cards offering four ports which can be
configured in any combination of 1 operator 3 channels
to 3 operators 1 channel.
Q, What is the man machine interface when using a
DS32 switch?
A, You can use a full desktop controller like the
DRC-1 which becomes a DRC-32 when used with the switch, or if you are going
to a GUI graphical interface, the DRC-U will provide a lower cost interface
into the PC.
Q, How is the operator unit connected to the switch
?
A, We designed the system to use industry standard
Cat 5 cable and crimp connectors. Newer buildings which have a structured
wiring schemes may provide ready to use ports to interconnect operators and
the switch.
Q, Can the switch have audio recording facilities?
A, Yes, each port has an audio output which may be
connected to a multi channel recoding system. Plus, each desk-top unit has
local record and playback facilities.
Q, How is the switch programmed?
A, The switch is programmed using a laptop computer
or other terminal which will run a simple communication program. All of the
switch parameters are stored in non volatile memory located on the switch
back plane. All of the cards are hot swap capable and the correct parameters
are downloaded to the exchanged card upon plug in.
Q. What base station radio sets will the DS-32
Support?
A. The DS-32 has embedded software for Motorola and
Simoco tone controlled base stations. Plus, by using our TC-1 remote card,
base stations equipped with audio in and out plus PTT line can be controlled
by the DS-32 switch.
Q. What signalling is available within the DS-32?
A. The DS-32 has embedded software to encode and
decode all selective calling standards. Plus, the DS-32 is equipped for FSK
signalling.
Q. Can I use a fixed mobile radio set with the
DS-32
A. yes, the DS-32 has a facility to drive any radio
set with 600Ώ audio, PTT line and busy signal.
Q. I already use a DS-Micro but need
more channels, is my investment in the Micro wasted?
A. No, the DS32 uses the same cards as
the DS-Micro, and so you need only purchase the case and extra cards.
Q. Can the switch card work on a Tetra
System
A. Yes, we have a fully operational
(those facilities presently supported) interface to a mobile's PEI
interface. The interface facilitates Group and Direct calls into and out of
the switch. The software available also includes standalone operation in
both TMO and DMO modes of operation and can be used as a none-service area
gateway into the service area. see gateway pdf on DS32 page. |
